Trump’s June jobs report proves the haters WRONG, economist says (video)

In a recent discussion regarding the U.S. economy, President Donald Trump’s June jobs report has drawn significant attention, particularly from economist E.J. Antoni of the Heritage Foundation. Antoni asserts that the report not only exceeded expectations but also served as a rebuttal to critics of the Trump administration’s economic policies.

During an interview, Trump revealed that he had signed 12 different trade letters as part of ongoing trade negotiations, with a deadline for reciprocal tariffs set for July 9. Antoni expressed optimism about these negotiations, particularly with countries like Canada and Vietnam. He emphasized that many nations are beginning to understand their economic dependence on the U.S., which he believes gives America leverage in these discussions. The economist anticipates continued concessions from these countries, which he argues will lead to an increased demand for American exports and labor.

Antoni discussed the implications of a recently passed comprehensive economic bill, which spans nearly 900 pages. White House economic advisor Kevin Hassett claimed that this legislation would significantly boost the economy, projecting growth rates exceeding previous figures and promising substantial financial benefits for the average American household. While Antoni acknowledged the complexity of quantifying the bill’s impact, he categorized it as a net positive, noting it avoids significant tax increases for the middle class and enhances deductions for small businesses.

On the jobs front, the latest report from the White House indicated that the administration outperformed the forecasts of economists, with the president having exceeded predictions from 78 out of 79 professionals who submitted their forecasts. This performance, according to Antoni, validates the administration’s economic strategies and counters pessimistic predictions from its detractors. He highlighted that the report not only featured strong headline figures but also showed upward revisions for the previous two months, with all net job growth attributed to full-time employment.

Antoni’s analysis underscores a broader narrative of economic resilience under the Trump administration, suggesting that the administration’s policies are beginning to bear fruit. As the nation approaches the trade deadline, the focus will remain on how these negotiations unfold and their subsequent impact on the American economy and job market.
