Snoop Dogg on Beefing w/ Eazy-E While Dr. Dre was Still Talking to Him (video)

Snoop Dogg Reflects on Tensions with Eazy-E Amidst Dr. Dre’s Neutrality

In a recent candid interview, hip-hop icon Snoop Dogg opened up about the complicated dynamics of his beef with late rapper Eazy-E, all while Dr. Dre maintained an unexpected communication with both parties. Snoop, known for his laid-back persona and sharp wit, shared insights into the personal and business aspects of the legendary rivalry that defined much of West Coast hip-hop in the 1990s.

During the conversation, Snoop recounted how, despite the ongoing conflict, he found himself appreciating Eazy-E’s music. He recalled moments when he would walk through his home, listening to tracks from Eazy-E and others, recognizing the quality of their work even amidst their differences. “Yo, I was going to ask you… when I would hear it, I was like damn, I love Eazy, why he going so hard on me?” Snoop reflected, acknowledging the emotional weight of the disses while also admitting to the undeniable talent behind them.

Interestingly, Snoop revealed that Dr. Dre, a central figure in the feud, was not as embroiled in the conflict as his associates believed. According to Snoop, Dre and Eazy-E were practically neighbors during this tumultuous period and would communicate while Snoop and others took the rivalry personally. “We took the beef personal; this [expletive] Dre making records like it ain’t that serious for him,” Snoop noted, shedding light on how their perceptions of the rivalry differed significantly.

Warren G, a mutual friend and collaborator, played a key role in mediating these tensions. As someone who had been present during the formation of N.W.A., he found himself caught in the middle of the feud, unable to take sides. Snoop remarked on Warren’s unique position, stating, “Warren was in the middle of all that… he could never take a side.”

The conversation also touched on Snoop’s infamous reputation for smoking cannabis, even in high-profile places. He humorously hinted at his experiences in the White House, suggesting that he may have enjoyed a smoke session there without explicitly confirming it. “Hypothetically speaking, the bathroom had a nice aroma to it after I left,” he teased, adding a layer of levity to the serious tone of the interview.

Snoop Dogg’s reflections paint a vivid picture of the complexities involved in the hip-hop scene during a pivotal era. His ability to appreciate the artistry of his rivals, even amid personal conflicts, showcases a depth of character that resonates with fans old and new. As the music industry continues to evolve, these stories from the past serve as a reminder of the intricate relationships that define its history.
