‘COMPLETELY PREPOSTEROUS’: Trump envoy sets the record straight on leaked intel report (video)

In a recent interview, Steve Witkoff, Special Presidential Envoy for Peace Missions, clarified the negotiations surrounding the recently brokered cease-fire between Iran and Israel. As tensions escalated into what was termed a “12-day war,” Witkoff asserted that the objective was clear: to eliminate Iran’s nuclear enrichment capabilities and weaponization potential. He emphasized that this goal was achieved, contradicting narratives emerging from leaked intelligence reports suggesting otherwise.

Witkoff explained that President Trump was actively involved in the discussions, not only communicating with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu but also engaging with Iranian representatives. The negotiations were characterized by a mutual desire for peace, contingent upon Israel’s cessation of military campaigns. According to Witkoff, once both parties met their objectives—specifically, the dismantling of Iran’s enrichment capacity—the groundwork for a cease-fire was laid.

The leaked intelligence assessment, which has generated considerable media attention, raised questions about the extent of damage inflicted on Iran’s nuclear program. Witkoff condemned the leak as “outrageous” and “treasonous,” arguing that such disclosures could jeopardize future operations and lives. He underscored the significant damage sustained by Iran’s key nuclear facilities, including the complete destruction of the conversion facility in Isfahan, which he stated was essential for weaponization processes.

Highlighting the specifics, Witkoff detailed the destruction of nuclear reactors at Natanz and Fordow, asserting that the targeted strikes effectively incapacitated Iran’s ability to resume enrichment activities. He dismissed claims that the program had merely been “set back” as “completely preposterous,” stating that without the conversion facility, Iran could not initiate or successfully complete the enrichment process necessary for weaponization.

The conversation turned to the future of U.S.-Iran relations, with Witkoff expressing optimism about establishing a comprehensive peace agreement that extends beyond the cease-fire. He noted that discussions are ongoing, not only through direct channels but also via intermediaries, and he remains hopeful that a deal could foster economic prosperity in the region and reintegrate Iran into the international community.

Democratic Senator Mark Kelly voiced concerns regarding the implications of the military actions taken, suggesting that uncertainty remains around Iran’s nuclear materials and capabilities. However, Witkoff countered that a clear plan had been executed with specific objectives that were met, emphasizing the importance of a non-enrichment civil nuclear program for Iran’s future.

As negotiations continue, Witkoff reiterated that any prospective agreement would not include provisions for uranium enrichment, advocating instead for a civil program similar to that of other nations in the region. He expressed confidence that these discussions could pave the way for long-term stability and economic growth in the Gulf area, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to a comprehensive approach to peace with Iran.
